Textured paint for exterior walls is not just an ideal tool to decorate your house, but it also conceals any flaws in concrete, brick and sidings on your exterior walls. You may get pre-mixed textured exterior paint. You can mix sand additives on any paint.

How to Prepare Walls for Painting?
Sand up or scrape any peeling or loose paint from the outer surface and clean it up before you apply the paint. The texture will cover some of the blemishes and small defects on exterior walls. But on clean surface, it will stick better. Before painting, prime up the surface to cover up raw wood, stains, masonry or concrete.

How to Apply?
For exterior wall textures, pick the ideal textured paint. Some paints are mainly formulated and made to be used on masonry or brick and others are applied on different surfaces like wooden siding. On flat or large surface, be sure to use paint roller. With 1 inch of long nap, a roller cover can enhance the coverage over texture and paint. To add a unique finish, you may use a broom or sponge.

A very little maintenance is needed if your home painting exterior is newly textured. Dust particles are likely to stay occasionally on textured surface and leave dingy look on the paint. But it can be avoided with ease. This way, you need to close all exterior windows and doors first. And you should also remove potted plants and furniture off from exterior wall. On water hose, jet setting can be used. On exterior wall, high pressure wash cannot be used. With heavy force, the textured finish may be damaged. Dirt can be washed off with a mild spray.

Longevity

Exterior textured paint ensures more durability than interior textured walls as they are formulated in a way to withstand several adverse elements. Exterior paint is likely to last longer for several years. Several exterior textured paints are made to last around 10 to 15 years.
